Day 1 Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll be warmly received and transferred to Springlands Hotel for a restful night. Enjoy the tranquil setting as you prepare for your mountain trek.
Overnight: Springlands Hotel (Bed & Breakfast - BB)

Day 2 Moshi to Rongai Park Gate to 1st Cave Camp

Begin the day with a hearty breakfast before meeting your trekking team. Drive approximately 3 hours (85 km) to Nale Moru village, the starting point of the Rongai Route. Trek through lush crop fields and serene pine forests to reach 1st Cave Camp, set on the edge of the moorland zone.
Hiking Distance & Time: 8 km, 3–4 hours
Overnight: 1st Cave Camp (Altitude: 2,600 m)

Day 3 1st Cave Camp to 2nd Cave Camp

Climb steadily towards 2nd Cave Camp, where spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the Eastern Ice Fields await. After lunch, venture toward Kikelewa Caves, nestled in a sheltered valley.

Overnight: 2nd Cave Camp (Altitude: 3,450 m)

Day 4 2nd Cave Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Today’s trek features a steep ascent through moorlands, revealing sweeping views of the surrounding wilderness. Arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, dramatically set beneath Mawenzi’s towering spires. Enjoy an afternoon of acclimatization or explore the rugged terrain.

Overnight: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (Altitude: 4,330 m)

Day 5 Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp

Traverse the vast, lunar-like Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, arriving at Kibo Camp at the foot of Kilimanjaro’s crater wall. Spend the evening resting in preparation for the summit push.
Hiking Distance & Time: 9 km, 4–5 hours
Overnight: Kibo Camp (Altitude: 4,750 m)

Day 6 Kibo Camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Depart at midnight for the final ascent. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,685 m) at sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), Africa’s highest point. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Kibo Camp, then cross the Saddle to Horombo Hut.

Overnight: Horombo Hut (Altitude: 3,720 m)

Day 7 Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Descend through Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate (2,700 m), where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Drive back to Moshi (45 km, ~1 hour) for a well-deserved rest at Springlands Hotel.

Overnight: Springlands Hotel (BB)

Day 8 Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, departing with memories of conquering Africa’s tallest mountain.
